Our Narratives for Change Foundations one-day, in-person training is designed for people who want to understand and use better narratives for talking about the big issues. Changing how we talk about big issues helps shift mindsets and helps people understand and support the changes that will make the biggest difference to people’s lives. Foundations is where you can start your training journey with The Workshop.

DATES RESCHEDULED: As a result of the weather events that affected many across the motu we rescheduled this training to Friday 17 March 2023.

Delivered as a one-day, in-person workshop on Friday 17 March 2023 in Wellington, our one-day Foundations is a great introduction to Narratives for Change. Whether you’re all in the same organisation, or individuals or groups working on similar issues, our one-day Foundations training is the ideal way to come together to learn about using narratives to create change.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
In this course, you’ll learn how to use your expertise in your area of work and put together communication in a way that helps people support the changes you’re working towards. You’ll be able to identify and use consistent, helpful narratives that can gradually deepen people’s understanding and influence shared mindsets. It’ll give you Narrative for Change tools to help you communicate convincingly about big change work.

AT THE END OF THIS ONE-DAY COURSE, YOU'LL BE ABLE TO:
- describe Narratives for Change and explain why, when, and how to use it.
- understand the importance of a narrative strategy to shift mindsets
- begin to identify some of the dominant, unhelpful narratives in your area
- begin to recognise, name, and describe some of the helpful narratives to amplify in your area
- apply new narrative tools in your communication
- leave with a structure for stories that reflect your new narrative.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Scientists, researchers, writers, advocates, campaigners, communicators, organisers, fundraisers, policy makers, and leaders of organisations who want to deepen people’s thinking on complex issues.
Anyone who wants to motivate people to support big social and environmental issues over the long-term, and build a more just, sustainable and democratic world.
